I changed the wiki password thanks to the tamperings of "McLovin."  The new password was distributed recently in class.  Do not share the password.  Thank you!

Welcome to the MUS 111-112 Wiki!

This is the wiki for the University of Montana Department of Music's 1st year music theory series.  More specifically, this is a web resource and semester project for the students enrolled in MUS 111/112 and MUS 137/138, section 4, taught by Dr. Kimberly James.

Most of my course "commentary" is posted at my music theory weblog, so be sure to check there frequently or subscribe to the RSS feed.

What's a wiki?

Wikis are intended to be used a collaborative content management systems.  A wiki is like an online document, a webpage, maybe even a blog all rolled in one that can be edited right inside your web browser from any location.  This site is shared and altered by the class.  Each of you has the responsibility of creating, updating, and maintaining the course wiki.  You may NOT edit this page (the FrontPage)You may NOT edit the side widget that contains the QuickStart and SideBar menus.  Please do not significantly change someone else's work (other than basic spelling/grammer and tidiness issues) without asking them.

I will view the site regularly to update and correct information as needed as well as make suggestions for editing, style, organization, and content.  Please treat this site with respect.

Adding files to the wiki

Please do not upload large files directly to the wiki.  We have very limited space here.  When possible, please post a link to a public file location (such as google docs) or use a file hosting service (like dropbox).

Other general information regarding the course wiki

  1. The wiki is public, so anyone can read it.  Do not post personal information here or anything that should not be distributed widely.
  2. Only people who have the wiki password can edit our wiki pages.  There is a handy function that allows us to keep track of edits, but be careful and respectful with posts and edits on this site.
  3. This wiki is not hosted through the University of Montana's servers.  Although pbwiki rarely is "down", technology does fail at times.  Plan ahead and don't wait until the last minute to complete wiki assignments.
